Walking tracks, Dracula and broken down vans :)

Also for my sister, yes sorry I slept in a drawer... Apologies :p
So yesterday we took a cable car up to the top of Mount Tampa. It drizzled yesterday so it was nice to get up there just as it started to clear. It was so nice that 5 of us, two guides and three of us girls decided to walk down. It was still wet and the rocks were slippery. I slid out at one point and got covered in mud, it was hilarious, but hurt like heck and I'll have the bruises to prove it very soon! Even though I almost went over the edge of the mountain (mum and dad I'm safe!), what was more amusing was Meghan skidding out not long after me and taking the trainee guide out with her. Hilarious, their mud was much worse than mine! All safe and we have had some great stories to share.
Today was Bran castle... Dracula Castle. Sorry folks, just not that interesting :( its small and not very well furnished and has nothing to do with Bram Stokers Dracula, instead about Romanian royals and Vlad the Impaler. Today we also visited an old citadel, ok, and a really cool fortified church. See my pics.
On the way home our mini van lost both its rear left tyres  in a field of some sort of cereal. I thought the driver did exceptionally well, but the oldies thought it was the end of the world. We're all fine, and it wasn't done on purpose people! No doubt its going to be talked about for the rest of the trip!
Oh well, not as bad as the bust break downs in the middle east, this was a short half hour in the sunshine... Easy as :)
A x

  2. Love the pics, fav so far 'bed in a draw !#$%'. I knew I should have come, me being more vertically challenged then you (only by mm's) would have been a sure winner in those stakes. Everything looks absolutely amazing, enjoy!! Hope the bruises don't hurt too much! miss u lots - S xox.

  3. Sounds very eventful - one of my best experiences was having the tour bus break down in the middle of Cambodia. The word spread round like wildfire and we spent the afternoon playing soccer with local kids.. Keep up the stories :-)

  4. This is my third attempt at a reply, so sorry it's been so long coming as I'm really enjoying your blogs and photos - much better than the trip diaries I'm used to. If it works this time it's due to Karen's helpful advice. It was good thinking on your part to take the Santiago walk in reverse as you no doubt avoided getting tangled up with any hot-blooded Spaniards. Given local connotations here I was worried when I read about the pot tree until I saw the photo! On May 3 as our maximum temperature reached only 9 degrees I contemplated sleeping in (my) drawers that evening. Make sure none of those Bulgarian wrestlers put their arms around you.
